Red Dead Redemption

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have been a cowboy in the old west? I know I have and I could take a pretty good guess that most men, in their childhood, dressed up as, or imagined themselves as a cowboy. Bank robberies, gangs, horse liability, shooting duels and classy old saloons, the whole world of a cowboy seemed to be riddled with action and adventure.
With the release of Rockstar’s latest game; Red Dead Redemption, you can finally live that childhood dream and become a tough cowboy from the old west. It is funny that no-one has really tried to do a good cowboy game. You would think that the stories and the adventures we have heard about from the wild west and the old frontiers would be great to base a game around and yet, barring a few poor attempts, no-one had really attempted it.
Rockstar, the company behind Grand Theft Auto, decided to take up that mantle and look poised to deliver one of the best games of 2010, nevermind one of the best cowboy games. You play as John Marston, a former outlaw who, pressured by the government, has to do their bidding and help bring the rule of law across the American frontier.
The world will be open and expansive and will have three main “areas”to explore, which is very similar to Grand Theft Auto. Gunfights, train robberies, duels and bounty hunting will all be a part of your quest and should provide some fantastic moments. There is always the possibility that a game so hyped up will ultimately disappoint, but I have confidence that this one will do well and I look forward to its release on the 21st of May.
